Policital Action Information for Fall 2012

Our strike last spring was a direct result, in part, because of decisions made by legislators or legislation. Things will never change unless we act, as a collective whole, to help elect pro-public education legislators and vote for or against measures that impact public education (our jobs)!   Giving a few hours of your time now could have a positive impact on your job for years to come!  Following is a list of activities...grab a colleague or two and make a difference!
Email Regina Norris at regnor11@hotmail.com to sign up for an activity.
Thank you!

OCTOBER 30th
East Multnomah County UniServ Council-Wide Action Day
Join your staff in standing on a busy street near your school for about 45 minutes reminding the community to vote and vote yes on Measure 85.

NOVEMBER 1st
Phone Banks at the East Multnomah County UniServ Office, Suite 110 (501 NE Hood, Gresham, Oregon)
4:30pm – 6:30pm
Get out the vote calls!

VOTE NO ON 84
Eliminates Oregon’s Estate Tax and would cost public education, senior care, public safety, and other priority services more than $240 million every two years.

VOTE YES ON 85
Reforms the corporate kicker by putting money into Oregon K‐12 classrooms, rather than back into the pockets of large, out-of-state corporations.
